Whiskey. Bitters. One glorious fat ice cube. Two minutes start to finish. The drink that never goes out of style.
Drop the Sugar cube or simple syrup into a rocks glass. If using a sugar cube, add the Angostura bitters directly onto it.
Add a small splash of water and muddle (press and stir with a muddling stick or the back of a spoon) until the sugar dissolves. If using simple syrup, just stir it straight in with the bitters.
Add one or two large pieces of Ice.
Pour in the Bourbon or rye whiskey.
Stir slowly for about 30 seconds — you are chilling and diluting the drink, not aerating it.
Hold the Orange peel skin-side down over the glass and pinch it firmly to express (spray) the citrus oils across the surface. Run it around the rim, then drop it in.
