Smashed meringue, whipped cream and strawberries all jumbled together. The best dessert that requires absolutely zero skill to make.
Hull (remove the green stalks from) the Fresh strawberries and slice them in half. Set a small handful aside for topping.
Roughly crush the remaining strawberries in a bowl with a fork — you want some pieces and some pulpy bits for texture.
Whip the Double cream with the Icing sugar and Vanilla extract to soft peaks — the cream should hold its shape but fold gently when the bowl is tilted.
Break the Ready made meringue nests into rough, uneven pieces of varying sizes.
Fold the crushed strawberries and meringue pieces through the whipped cream — do not overwork it. You want swirls, not a uniform mix.
Divide into glasses or bowls. Top with the reserved strawberry halves and serve immediately — the meringue softens quickly once it meets the cream.
